  1. FANTASY NEWSLETTER No.23 - A black ink and black color pencil drawing on an 11 x 14 size coquille board. It is a fanzine cover drawing based on Fritz Leiber's sword and sorcery characters, "Fafhrd and Gray Mouser".

A six volume set of "Fafhrd and Gray Mouser" books was published by Gregg Press in 1977. They sit on a bookshelf in my library next to the books of other outstanding fantasy writers.

Though these six books fit into the "Sword & Sorcery" genre created by Robert E. Howard, Leiber did not imitate Howard's very popular "Conan" tales, as so many other fantasy writers have done. Leiber's "Fafhrd and Gray Mouser" are unique characters in a very different fantasy world from Howards, their weird adventures have a completely different aura to them. Which is why I did this drawing so "un-like" those that I did with Howard's Conan character.
